The Alagnak River

The Alagnak is the culmination of two smaller rivers: one flowing from Kukaklek Lake and the other from Nonvianuk Lake. Both rivers flow for 10-15 miles until they join to create the Alagnak. The upper river splits many times into numerous small channels offering anglers hundreds of miles of private wadeable water.

Licensed by the State of Alaska and the U.S Coast Guard, and certified in first aid and CPR, they spend their entire day at your shoulder teaching you techniques to ensure that YOUR experience is the best it can be.

Our chief guide and lodge manager has been with Katmai for 23 seasons, with many senior guides returning year after year. Their knowledge of the Alagnak is unmatched. In addition, Katmai’s guest services/on-site manager has been part of the team for 15 seasons, and many of our support staff anywhere from 3-12 seasons.
 
From meeting special dietary needs to assisting with additional side trips in Alaska, our on-site staff takes pride in seeing to all the details. We love what we do, and it shows in the unparalleled service our guests receive.

The lodge staff is friendly and helpful and I have never felt lonely despite being there on my own. The meals are huge and yummy. Lunch on the boat is not just an average sandwich.
